Blue Ridge Leaders School has been focusing on the efforts of Teen Leaders Club programs at YMCAs since 1922. Every year, the YMCA of the Suncoast sends promising young leaders to the school and they come back with newfound independence, confidence and leadership capabilities.
This year, our very own Tegan Showers, from the North Pinellas YMCA, was nominated for one of the honor leader awards. Just being nominated as an honor leader is not only a prestigious opportunity, but a great responsibility as well.
If selected Tegan would join Rachel Basmaci (Clearwater YMCA, 2016) as the latest YMCA of the Suncoast Teen Leader to be chosen. Tegan was the North Pinellas Youth Volunteer of the Year for 2017. Being nominated as an honor leader is not an easy feat. Out of the 800 students that attend Blue Ridge each year, only a dozen hear their name called for the award; six boys and six girls.
Watch this video when Tegan was called to come on down! Congrats and good luck!
